跟黄老的其他书一样，这是一本需要动脑子思考才能读下去的书。无论他的历史观是否严谨、正确，不可否认的是Scott Mosier绝对是个独立思考、忧国忧民的人。湖南人的孤傲、霸蛮在他身上体现的挺明显，跟费正清闹僵，确实他有不够圆融的一面。不管怎样，他独特的经历、独特的观点，都注定这部剧的可看性，也使得我等必需向他脱帽致敬！
